COACHES AND TRAINERS
ROB’S JOURNEY
Rob’s journey in martial arts began at age 11, fueled by a childhood dream of becoming a ninja and a love for martial arts movies. Starting with Taekwondo, he quickly proved his talent with over 30 junior fights.
But it was during a family holiday in Thailand at age 20 that he discovered his true passion - Muay Thai. After training intensively for just two weeks, he stepped into the ring and won his first fight.
Returning to Australia, Rob chased that fire, training after long 12-hour mining shifts with his first coach, eventually leading to his professional debut just four months later. Today, his story inspires others to find discipline, strength, and purpose through the art of Muay Thai.
Tyrese’s Journey – From First Session to Fight Night Regular
Meet Tyrese Fernando, one of our dedicated coaches here at Lovett Muay Thai.
Tyrese first joined the gym around 2019–2020, looking for something new and fun after trying a bit of martial arts in the past. It didn’t take long for him to fall in love wit Muay Thai, the structure, the grind, the discipline, it all just clicked.
A big turning point for Tyrese was his first sparring day, which opened his eyes to just how much he loved the sport and wanted to take it further.
In early 2023, he stepped into the ring for his first official fight, and he hasn’t looked back since. Tyrese has stayed active on the fight scene, already racking up 9 fights with a record of 5 wins and 4 losses, gaining valuable experience with every round.
Now, he’s not only training hard, he’s giving back. As a coach, Tyrese brings that same passion and drive to the next generation of fighters, helping others grow the way he did.
From curious newcomer to experienced competitor and coach, Tyrese is the real deal.
Shiana’s Journey – From Member to Coach, Mum & Fighter
You might recognise Shiana, she first joined Lovett Muay Thai in 2019 while studying and looking for a fun, engaging way to stay fit. Already passionate about health and fitness, she’d spent years weight training and had even completed her fitness certifications for her own knowledge.
As soon as she stepped into the gym, she was hooked. The friendly vibe, Rob’s commitment as a coach, and the energy of Muay Thai made it an easy fit.
A few years in, Rob invited her to help out, running ladies fitness classes, managing admin, and eventually taking on socials, PT, and coaching beginners and ladies classes full time.
In early 2024, she had her first baby and was back on the mats six months later, coaching, organising Nemesis, and even stepping into the ring for her first fight just 11 months postpartum.
These days, you’ll find her training alongside her husband while their little one watches from the sidelines, surrounded by a gym full of “aunties.”
At Lovett’s, it’s more than training, it’s a community, and it’s home.
Lilly’s Journey – Skill, Strength & Serious Momentum
Lilly has been a part of Lovett Muay Thai for over six years, and her commitment, consistency, and growth over that time have made her one of the gym’s most exciting up-and-comers for 2024.
Training five days a week, she brings intensity and focus to every session. Alongside her twin sister Izzy, Lilly has spent the past four years attending sparring events in Perth, gaining valuable experience and sharpening her skills in the ring.
Now entering her third year of coaching, Lilly has stepped confidently into a leadership role, supporting younger athletes and sharing what she’s learned through years of training. She’s also completed her Certificate III in Sport & Recreation, giving her the tools to coach with both heart and knowledge.
Lilly had her first official fight and came away with a win, and she’s now preparing for her second bout with her sights set even higher. With a strong work ethic and quiet determination, she’s paving a clear path forward as both a coach and fighter.
Watch this space, Lilly’s just getting started.
Izzy’s Journey – A Rising Star on the Mats
At just 17 years old, Izzy has already built a name for herself as one of Lovett Muay Thai’s most exciting up-and-comers for 2024.
She’s been training for six years, first walking through the doors with her twin sister, Lilly, and never looking back. With a strong foundation and a passion for growth, Izzy has consistently shown up, training five days a week, pushing herself to improve, and setting big goals.
Over the past four years, she’s gained valuable experience at sparring days in Perth, helping her sharpen her technique and develop her ring awareness. Her dedication also led her to complete her Certificate III in Sport & Recreation and step confidently into a coaching role at the gym.
Now, Izzy is taking things to the next level, putting her name down for fights and already having her first official fight under her belt.
From student to coach to competitor, Izzy is just getting started.
Stanley’s Journey – From Teen Classes to the Ring
Meet Stanley, 16 years old. He started his Muay Thai journey at Lovett Muay Thai when he was just 14. Like many teens, he joined the youth classes to learn the basics, build his fitness, and get a feel for the sport.
Over time, with consistency and encouragement, Stanley’s skills developed, and so did his confidence. He began travelling to Perth for sparring events, gaining experience and testing himself against others. After three solid sparring appearances, he knew he was ready for more.
In November 2024, Stanley stepped into the ring for his first official fight. It was a big moment, and one that proved just how far he had come.
Since training at Lovett Muay Thai, Stanley has not only grown stronger physically, he’s also gained confidence in himself and in how he connects with others. He’s more comfortable speaking to people, more self-assured, and more driven.
This is what Muay Thai can do. It’s not just about fighting, it’s about building who you are.
